18U Ahwatukee Sting Takes 1st Place in Chandler Fall Ball 2009 Season

The 18-U Ahwatukee Sting baseball team played a total of 16 games, with 12 wins, 3 losses and 1 tie ball game in the Chandler Baseball league at Espee Park in Chandler. The team is made up of players from Desert Vista High-School, Brophy College Preparatory, Arizona State University, and Chandler-Gilbert Community College. Coach Mike Popkins says “The team had outstanding defense and offense throughout the entire season, everyone contributed to the team’s success”. Steven Palestino was dominating on the mound with assistance from Jared Popkins and Nick Smith. The team plans to enter upcoming tournaments and continue on to play Spring ball in the 2010 season.
